Balkan Mountains tour

Balkan Mountains give the name of the Balkan peninsula and separates Bulgaria in North and South Bulgaria. But this mountain keeps the Bulgarian spirit throughout the centuries and this role is the most important. It is home of many small towns and villages, where you can still feel the spirit of 19 century and learn more about the history and culture of Bulgaria.

Troyan monastery

We will visit Troyan monastery, Staro Stefanovo village and the city of Lovech. They had an important role for our Liberation in 1878 of the Ottoman empire. Some of the leaders, who united and inspired the locals to stand up, used to hide here. You would see old architecture and feel the atmosphere of Bulgaria from 19 century until today. I will share with you the stories which I know for the area related to the Bulgarian Revival period. You will learn who Vasil Levski was and why he left Troyan monastery. We will have 1 hour for sightseeing of the monastery and free time for photos and shopping for some local products. (Troyan clay ceramics)

Staro Stefanovo and Lovech

Next stop will be the village of Staro Stefanovo, where you will feel the old Bulgarian spirit. Some historical Bulgarian movies were shot there. A walk in the village and we will have the option to enjoy local food for lunch.
After lunch around 3:00 – 3:30 pm we will arrive in the city of Lovech. Important city for keeping the Bulgarian spirit during the centuries. It had a leading role for the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman empire. Here you can see a masterpiece of architecture from 19c. – the Covered bridge in Lovech, built by Kolyo Ficheto. Sightseeing of the old town Varosha and around 5:30 – 6:00 pm we will depart to Sofia. Return to Sofia in the evening around 8pm.
