Licensed Bilingual (English and German) Tour Guide

Tourism and Event Management expert with 19 years of experience in organizing culture tours in Bulgaria. Personal travel advisor for travelers and tourism businesses. As a licensed Bilingual (English and German speaking) tour guide I try more people to feel the spirit of our land and learn about the treasures and the wisdom we have.
Travelling is a way of life for me, and this brought me to visit 31 countries. I love to share my knowledge and experience, motivate and inspire others, develop and support new projects. And in this process to be the mediator and connect you as a guest with local people, culture, nature and show you Bulgaria in a personal, authentic way.
Co-founder of tour operator company Nvision Travel in 2008 and the brand Bulgaria Communism Tours for first time in Bulgaria in 2009.

Our travel experience in Bulgaria is what you will take with you back home, not the souvenirs. But you will remember the people, the authentic atmosphere, the honesty and the open hearts of Bulgarians. I am here to help you find them and recognize the true colors of Bulgaria.

Why tourism: It’s my calling.

In high school I fell in love with Geography, which sparked my interest in the travel industry. Therefore, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and a Master’s degree in European Integration. As a people-oriented person a second Master’s program attracted me in 2022 and I will dedicate the next 2 years to Organizational psychology and Cross-cultural management.

My professional career in the travel industry began in the summer of 2003. I started working for a leading tour operator company in Bulgaria (Li-Tour Ltd.), which dealt with Bulgarian heritage and cultural trips. For a period of 5 years in this role I had the chance to work with groups from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Canada and France. In the winter of 2007, I spent 3 months as a trainee in a travel company in Dresden, Germany, where I dealt with student trips. This time was precious as it gave me the opportunity to think who I really wanted to be. Upon my return to Bulgaria, I knew it was time for a change.

I realized that if I wanted to grow and develop my ideas professionally, I had to have my own company. Hence, in the summer of 2008 we set up Nvision Travel and following this dream of mine has been an incredible journey by itself. That was the best decision I ever made and over the years I gained incredible experience, working with partners and travelers from all over the world. In one of my trips, a group from Taiwan gave me the name Betty. Currently, I have two official names: for my European friends it is Cveti and for my Asian friends – Betty. As a licensed tour guide and keen photographer, I started the first travel vlog in Bulgaria: www.bettytravels.com in 2015.

The love of wine and our home area inspired us to launch in 2022 our new brand Vidin Wine Tours: www.vidinwinetours.com .

All that love and passion for traveling I put into our tours. I will be happy and excited indeed to share the beauty of Bulgaria with you. Nice to meet you and thank you for your interest in Bulgaria, in our culture and the trust in me as a local partner and guide for your authentic travel experience.

Albena Tsankova (Beni) & Greta (cat)

Managing Partner, Incoming Department Asia and North America market

Licensed English Speaking Tour Guide

My name is Albena (Beni) and I am a native Bulgarian. I love traveling but most of all I like meeting people from diverse cultures. I am a nature, animal and innovation lover. In 2008 I obtained my tour guide license for Bulgaria, my driving license and I adopted my cat, Greta. Mrs Greta is now office cat of Nvision Travel, she is keen on innovation and accounting.

Traveling and being in a multicultural environment is a very enriching experience. Seeing the happy face of a tourist at the end of a tour, being told thank you for the experience, looking at the photos and remembering all the fun moments during the trip, all that recharges me with positive energy and motivation for new trips and new tourists.
Bulgaria is a hidden gem in Europe. We are an ancient country with a rich history, plenty of traditions, delicious food and wines of good quality. Our history is so rich that if I do not summarize it, you will get lost in all the kings, years, battles and events. 🙂 We, Bulgarians, are warm and hospitable people, especially in the small towns and villages. For locals in the countryside meeting foreigners is a memorable experience and they will speak with good memories long about it. 🙂 And I love it when I help people from different cultures to get to know each other. I think this meeting and conversation is enriching for everyone involved.
If you ask me to recommend you what to see/visit in Bulgaria, I will say: Buzludzha monument, the old town of Plovdiv and Kapana area, the Seven Rila lakes in the summer, Belogradchik rocks and Rila monastery. If you are a wine lover, I would suggest a visit to a local winery. Bulgaria develops quickly as a wine destination, and we are proud to have wines of good quality. In addition, you would see the vineyards and the people behind the wine brand. If you prefer to take a cooking tour, I would love to share with you the secrets of making banitsa or moussaka. I am a keen cook, and I would enjoy cooking together with you.
My professional experience combines a law company, renewable energy company and travel companies. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism from the University of National and World Economy in Bulgaria. In 2006 I was an exchange student by Socrates/Erasmus for one semester in NHTV, Breda, the Netherlands. I am a fluent English speaker and I have basic knowledge in German and Spanish languages.
Last, but not least, I love cats. In 2008 I adopted a cat, female, white and ginger. Her name is Greta and honestly, she is one of my weak points, as I got pretty attached to her. It is very likely that you may get to know her too as I enjoy telling stories about her mischief to my fellow travelers and friends. 🙂
