Cook and Eat with a Local is an authentic food experience in the center of Sofia. While traveling abroad, it is always fun to taste the local food. We offer you a chance to get to know the Bulgarian cuisine. So let’s go in the kitchen and cook our own Bulgarian food. Please note that you do not need special cooking skills for joining our tour. We are here to help you with experience and tips. All you need is interest in Bulgarian food and some free time. 🙂

During Cook and Eat with a Local you will taste traditional Bulgarian food and drinks. We will do the shopping, cooking and tasting together. And later you will learn to prepare Bulgarian food. We will share with you some of the small secrets of the local cuisine. And you will see that these are simple tricks but they make it all so tasty. Most of all, forget about the diet! Because on this day it is all about taste. We promise you a fun day in the kitchen!

Cook and Eat with a Local: Learn to prepare Bulgarian food

During the cooking class you will learn to prepare banitsa and shopska salad. These are two of the most traditional meals from the Bulgarian food. But local food goes well with local drinks. You will also get the chance to taste Bulgarian alcohol: a glass of beer, wine or rakia. Rakia is the strongest Bulgarian alcohol. It is like brandy with 50 per cent alcohol. We make it from grapes, plums or apricots. And we usually have a small shot with the shopska salad. Cheers! In Bulgarian we say Nazdrave (Наздраве). 🙂

We can also prepare other meals from the Bulgarian cuisine upon request. Contact us in advance and let us know which meal you want to make. We are open to suggestions. We have the aprons ready for you! 🙂
