Wine tourism

Let us show you the history of wine production in Bulgaria. In the past we had one big wine producer in Bulgaria. And today there are a lot of private small wineries, which offer Bulgarian wine of good quality. You will taste traditional Bulgarian wine varieties from different regions. We have years of experience in organizing wine tours in Bulgaria and Macedonia. This is the first wine tour of Sofia for all guests who don’t have time to travel in Bulgaria.

Sofia wine tour: explore the wine tradition in Bulgaria

The wine tradition in Bulgaria dates back to the Thracian times. The Thracians believed that by drinking wine they get spiritual. Today the wine culture in Bulgaria connects more and more wine lovers. And in 2017 Bulgaria found a place in the top 10 wine destinations, which you can visit. Our Sofia wine tour is a combination of wine and dine. You will have a chance to taste local specialties and to finish the tour with a light dinner.

Bulgarian wine varieties

According to your taste we will offer you traditional Bulgarian wine varieties like Gamza. This is a local red wine grape variety, mainly grown in Northwestern Bulgaria. Also, Melnik 55, Mavrud (a traditional Bulgarian red wine grape variety considered one of the oldest local varieties). As well as Muskat Ottonel, Pamid (the most common grape variety in Bulgaria in the past, good both as table grape as well as for wine production). Not to forget Rubin (a hybrid red wine grape variety selected in the end of the 1940s in the Wine and Viticulture Institute in Pleven through crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah). Of course, you can taste the well-known Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Traminer and more. Have you ever tried an organic raspberry wine or Bulgarian Ice wine? So, during the Sofia wine tour you can taste. During Sofia wine tour you will taste good Bulgarian wines, which you cannot find easy in the restaurants.

Finally, our Sofia wine tour is a nice summary of the local wine production. We will give you information about different wineries in Bulgaria and after the end of the tour you will recommend our wines back home. Cheers! Наздраве!

Amazing experience in Bulgaria. Taken to the best wine bars in the City and Betty is a great host who chose the best Bulgarian wines to taste as well as explaining some history and details about the wines. She made the experience very enjoyable and there was no rush at any of the bars. I would definitely recommend this tour and so would any of the 8 in our group!

We did the Sofia wine tour with 13 people. Betty took us to two very nice wine bars where we sampled some excellent wine. Great host and great tour, I can definitely recommend.
